What opportunities do we have to get involved?

We are looking for volunteers for programs who like to hike, paddle or fish. We are also looking for volunteers with a wide variety of skills including fundraising. Monday Meet Up – Adaptive Outdoor Yoga – June 13th, 20th and 27th. 

As part of our Monday meet up for seniors, adults and children living with mobility or cognitive challenges, this Monday we have our first outdoor adaptive yoga class! The class will be led by a certified Yoga instructor (Karla Breeze) and will be adapted for people of all abilities. The class is at the fully accessible Bobby Burns Fish Pond in Pincher Creek, which features paved walkways wide enough for a wheelchair, accessible bathrooms and a large covered shelter. There is also a chance to experience adaptive fishing after the yoga class, for those that wish to give it a try. The classes are provided for free and will be on Monday’s in June, starting on the 13th. Henry S.Varley Senior’s Fishing Weekend

It’s Alberta’s Free fishing Weekend! No fishing license is required and we provide the equipment and expertise, you just show up and fish! This event is for seniors, adults and children living with physical or cognitive challenges. Adaptive Paddling Volunteer

Adaptable Outdoors is on the lookout for volunteers with experience paddling or working with people with disabilities, to help us deliver our Adaptive Paddling Programs. Adaptive Fishing Volunteer

Starting spring/summer 2022 we hope to expand our Adaptive Fishing Program. If you have some fishing experience and have an interest in assisting people with disabilities and/or seniors experience the joys of fishing from shore, kayak or canoe then please get in touch at adaptableoutdoors@outlook.com, or sign up as a volunteer for one of our upcoming fishing programs.

On Monday the 6th of June, Monday the 13th of June, Monday the 20th of June and Monday the 27th of June we have shore fishing programs at Bobby Burns Fish Pond in Pincher Creek. Adaptive fishing equipment and volunteer support will be provided. A fishing license is not required. Our programs are open to children, adults and seniors living with mobility and/or cognitive challenges.
